Weekly Newsletter

Snapshot of the week:
      We will continue our work of practicing letter sounds and formation, building/writing CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words, and we will keep working on sight words! Please review this week's fundations packet to help your child practice these skills at home. This week we will introduce the sight words a, to, in, and review theof, and. We are working hard in the classroom to practice these words and make sure they are spelled correctly in our writing. If you would like another copy of the sight word list, please let me know. Report cards will be sent home next Friday, January 26th. If you have any questions about your child's report card or would like to schedule a conference, please don't hesitate to contact me! 
       Because of our snow day this week, the walking field trip to the Exeter Police Department has been rescheduled to Wednesday, January 31st. Please sign and return the updated permission slip as soon as possible. Parents and siblings are still welcome to join us!

      We will continue our work of practicing letter sounds and formation, building/writing CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words, and we will keep working on sight words! Please review this week's fundations packet to help your child practice these skills at home. This week we will introduce the sight word and, and review the and of. If you need another copy of the sight word list, please let me know. On Wednesday, we will be walking to the Exeter Police Department to learn about their important role in our community. Families are welcome to join us! We will also be talking all about winter animals, including which animals liberate, migrate or adapt to their environments. We will be doing a lot of non-fiction reading to help with our research of these animals.

Snapshot of the week:
      With our few days in school last week, this week we will continue our work of practicing letter sounds and formation, building/writing CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words, and we will beginning sight words! We are going to keep working on our vowel sounds, as those can be very tricky! Please review this week's fundations packet to help your child practice these skills at home. This week we will introduce the sight words the and of. Please see the letter about sight words that will be sent home on Monday (1/8) which explains how the sight words are introduced and assessed in kindergarten. Please note that the entire 50 sight words are copied on the backside of the note for your practice at home.
       We will also be talking all about winter animals, including which animals liberate, migrate or adapt to their environments. We will be doing a lot of non-fiction reading to help with our research of these animals.
