Snapshot of the week:
As we review letters and sounds, we are also beginning to work on sounding out words! We are starting out with simple CVC words, or consonant-vowel-consonant, such as c-a-t, p-i-g, or d-0-g.  We will also continue our sight word work next week. Starting with List 1, we will learn the words the, of, and, a, to, in. Please help your child practice these words at home, as these words cannot be sounded out. As we progress through the word lists, students will be able to use these words in their writing. In math, we continue working rote counting to 50, counting backwards from 10, patterns, and simple addition problems within 5 using manipulatives. Grades will close this Friday, January 18th.
