November 27 - December 1

Weekly Newsletter

Snapshot of the week:
This week we will be introducing Vv and Ww, Vv-van-/v/ and Ww-wind-/w/. We will also continue to review all of letters we've taught thus far (Tt, Bb, Ff, Mm, Nn, Ii, Uu, Cc, Oo, Aa, Dd, Ss, Ee, Rr, Pp, Jj, Ll, Hh, Kk). We are beginning to isolate the letter sounds to prepare us for sounding out CVC  words (consonant-vowel-consonant), such as cat or dog.
The children will also be learning about our new penpals! We are very lucky to have been asked by a former MSS intern who now teaches kindergarten in Virginia. Mrs. Jen Williams asked if we would like to partner up with her class to help practice our reading and writing. Please read her email below:

Hey Sarah!
I teach at A.W.E. Bassette Elementary School in Hampton, VA. We are a title 1 school in an urban area. The school has about 450 scholars and is a K-5 school. My class is one of 5 kindergarten classes at Bassette. Our class has 17 kids and a lot of personality! We love GoNoodle and take any opportunity to dance. Our fabulous aide in our room is Ms. Willoughby - and many of the kids combine our names and just call us both Ms. Willibums!!! We also have a wonderful Foster Grandma that works in our room named Ms. Mitchener. Our school mascot is the panda, which is a big deal (we love being the pandas!). If your kids want to see more pictures of our class, I have a lot of pictures on our class website:
