Snapshot of the week:
This week we will be back to learning new letters -- Vv-van-/v/ and Ww-wind-/w/. We've been making great progress with review and are close to finishing the alphabet! We've also begun sounding out and spelling CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant words -- cat, dog, etc.) and our so proud of what the kiddos are showing us! We will begin learning about holiday traditions and incorporating different types of celebrations into our learning. Our open circle lessons will continue to focus on mindfulness and recognizing our own feelings as well as the feelings of others. In math, we will continue working on ABC patterns and also introducing base-ten blocks, although we have been using them daily in our calendar routine. We are looking forward to meeting with our 2nd grade book buddies on Friday!
Because the book reviews from the library were such a hit in our classroom, we opted to keep it going! You'll notice that book review sheets will come home as requested by your child, and we invite you to send it back to school so it can be part of our class book. Our students are so excited to share their hard work with one another, and also give us the inside scoop about some of their favorite books. Please know that this is not a required assignment, it is only to encourage more reading and the positive feedback we received!
